Is the title of the editorial article in this months edition of The Messenger, my denomination’s magazine. I thought some here might get a kick out of it. The author was pointing similarities between Pope Francis’s spirituality and our Brethren tradition.

Do you have some sort of link that we may read?

I wouldn’t want to nitpick but shouldn’t it be said that your brethren’s spirituality is like Pope Francis’? His Holiness’ spirituality is from the Church and the Church faaaaar predates the myriad of protestant and non denominational denominations. Sorry, I notice these things lol

Anabaptists are secretly Catholic.

Call them Anapapists.

Pax Christi.

Pls…unless Brethren churches are Apostolic this is already silly…regardless whether one reads anything into it.

I must confess though. I’ve not heard of Brethren churches till I met one member last year here. Then again the one here likely not affiliated.

LOL…I thought he was secretly a Friend since his view on social justice and the poor seems to coincide with many Quaker beliefs…🙂

Or maybe they just happen to be Christian beliefs shared by both…😃

i think he might secretly be, now wait for it, a, its coming, franciscan!!! 🙂

I heard he was secretly a Jesuit. I also heard he was secretly of Italian ethnicity, but from Argentina. Additionally, I heard that he’s a super secret fan of St. Francis of Assisi.

Want more? I got more. He’s secretly the pope, and even more secretly, he’s Catholic. And this may or may not be true, but when completely different kinds of Christians draw comparisons from him in spite of alignment and affiliations that are worlds apart, he secretly takes that as a form of admiration.
