I’m making a podcast and trying to decide what I want as the clip art. I wanna use a saint painting but I don’t know how to check if it’s public domain. I assume most religious art is but how would I check.

It’s tricky…much of it is public domain but some is not. I think Google used to state if an image is public domain or not but still?

Often, as long as you give credit to the website you got it from, you’re ok. Some pictures of art are unable to be copied…those are definitely protected works. You may have to research and contact the website you got the picture from. Sorry, that’s all I know…maybe someone else can steer you to better answers.

If it is hundreds of years old, it most likely is. But ALWAYS check if you are not sure.

Most of the famous art is owned by museums or private collections. These images are protected by copyright.

Ask your priest if you can take a photograph of your Altar or the statues, glass, in your own parish.

Use art found in Wikimedia Commons or you need to ask the source for permission.
