Having been in a number of exorcisms, yes they are real. Spirits of complete diabolical hatred and evil that can move in and out of dimensions. Indeed. Very real. St John Vianney was literally physically assaulted by the devil. Even his bed went up in flames as a result of the rage shown by the devil to him - this as a result of the number of souls St John Vianney saved during his lifetime.
