Is saying this mortal sin?

I was singing along to this song and the lyrics had “God darn” in it and I sang it then realized immediately after what I had just said and repented but i am wondering if this would still be considered a mortal sin of blasphemy?(Also take in point it wasn’t said in anger or anything i just said it, now have i committed mortal sin?)

From the Catechism:

1857 For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: “Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.”

If you did not meet these criteria then you did not commit a mortal sin. It may verge on mortal sin to use profanity deliberately and extensively, especially when it is used to attack another human being. But the occasional release of a discouraging word is at worst a venial sin. It is something to be avoided, but not something to obsess over.

thanks for the answers guys, I know I did not have deliberate consent but I felt as if I almost did because I knew the lyric before I was just not thinking when I said it( I converted like a month and a half ago) so alot of things are new.

It is so awesome to hear a question like this. My spiritual adviser said that a person who commits a sin of this nature and who is concerned with if he offended God in a mortal way, is on his way. As Jesus said, “you are not far from the Kingdom of God Joseph of Arimithea”. My adviser also said, "it is the soul who uses the name of God in vain regularly with no concern that we must pray for, because that soul is lost, and needs help finding his way back.
We must all keep in mind that the three conditions for mortal sin are not grave matter which is “accepted as wrong” and then done deliberately against God. It is grave matter, which you have been told is grave (whether you agree or not) and you continue to do it anyway. So if the church teaches birth control is a grave sin and you do not want to accept this teaching because it impedes on your way of life, the sin is still grave and you now have full knowledge. If you now do it freely anyway, it is Mortal.

Welcome home, ENCORE. I think you’re probably ok in this instance, as the others have said. However, this might be God’s way of encouraging you to change the kind of music you listen to…? Placing yourself in a situation where you might sin can be sinful in itself. Technically it’s called the “near occasion of sin”. Now that you know this music is a potential threat to your spiritual welfare, you might want to consider whether it would be wise to avoid it altogether.
