Is it "liturgically right for a priest to completely omit the “sign of peace” (in what ever form it takes) and go straight to the “lamb of God” (common of the mass.) My parish priest does it,because of the h1n1 virus. To me, it seems very cold and unloving. I also thinks it’s wrong 😦 The ironic thing is that he greets everyone @ the back of the church after mass hmmmn? How do you explain that?..“special immunity”

HI,

The option to have the kiss of peace is just that: an option. The rubrics give the priest the freedom to have it or not.

The supreme act of love on Calvary is what gives the Mass warmth–not whether or not the kiss of peace is given.
