Is St. Thomas More Society faithful?

I posted this also in the news forum as I didn’t know where it belonged.

I just wanted to make sure this isn’t a heterodox-antiwar-social justice type group before I get involved with it. There was a law society called the Lawyers Guild that was a notorious communist front organization years ago and I didn’t want to get involved with anything like that.

If this is more neutral I’ll check it out–I would prefer a group faithful to the Magisterium of course.

The way I understand it is that each chapter or group of the St. Thomas More society is more or less an independent entity. There is no “home office”. So, whether or not the st. Thomas More society is heterodox or not depends on. . .whether they are heterodox or not! (I mean your particular group).

There is nothing in the formation or general intent of such a socitey that is in any way heterodox. Basically it is for lawyers and judges to seek the intercession of St. Thomas More, and to imitate his virtues.

I think the annual Red Mass has been around quite a long time (in Europe at least) and invokes the power of the Holy Spirit to guide the judiciary in the upcoming year. The “red” comes from the traditional vestments worn.
