Is Thanking God for Money Ok?

I realize the love of money is the root of all evil. My question is though, when somehow a person is graced with some form of money, is it good to thank God for it? I recently have been given some large scholarships from a university. My question really has to do with, when I thank God for the financial aid, does that imply that because I am thanking him for it, somewhere within me I have a love of money? I think I might be being a little to scrupulous here, but I wondered if anyone else had any thoughts.

Money is not evil, how money is used can be evil. To love money is to place the greatest importance upon seeking after money, that is making it an idol.

I am very pleased God has blessed you with this opportunity, so yes you should thank God for this great kindness and use it to love God by doing your best and working as well as you can and in the long run using whatever you learn and qualify as to help those you love around you and to help others who don’t have as much as you.

A long way down the road because of your University education you may be in a position to sponsor another student in their University education.

God gave you a good brain with good intelligence and now it would seem He is providing the opportunity for you to use it to love Him and for His glory. I hope you can see that that is something to thank God for

As long as you remember that whatever you may have whether it is a small amount or a great deal is because it came to you by God’s grace so that you may attain holiness and help others to do so and to do good and give glory to God then you will know to thank God always.

Also remember that work is prayer, so offer all of your hard work in your studies for God’s will.

I’ll keep you and your studies in my prayers.

I used to have difficulty worrying about money. It seems to me that Jesus spoke to this concern by reassuring us that Our Father would provide all that we need. When I was unemployed for one year, I prayed that God would relieve my anxiety about money. Not only did He answer that prayer, but provided for all my needs. Whenever unexpected money would come to me, I would instantly attribute it to His grace and goodness. Even now, with my new job, I thank Him for every paycheck. Everything that I have is a gift from Him.

you must thank God for all gifts you receive, material, spiritual, intellectual and otherwise, since He is the author of all gifts. You must regard all gifts, including your own abilities and talents as being loaned to you by God for the purpose of carrying out His will for you in this life so that you may be united with Him in the next life.

Is it the money you’re really “thankful” for, or the ability to pursue your education without the future burden of repaying loans?
Maybe God has a plan for you to get a fruitful career and pass on your future earnings to charity. If you were burdened with loans you may not have the ability to be as charitable.
Sometimes God blesses certain people in certain way because He can rely on them in the future…
