I have a friend who wants to become Catholic and is attending RCIA. She has a book called “Christ Among Us” as her study guide. I read the part about birth control (the easiest way to tell if it goes along with church teaching) and it said that this teaching will change due to overpopulation of the Earth. Do you know about this book? What should I do? How do I let my friend know the book does not go with church teaching?

Dear Molly,

The Vatican had the imprimatur removed from “Christ Among Us” about sixteen years ago because of its unorthodox content. All you need do for your friend is compare its teachings with those of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
