Is the confirmation service a Mass?

My daughter is being confirmed soon at a Sunday evening service. Will this service be a Mass or some special type of service?
 
On Pentecost, at the Cathedral where our Indult Mass is held, the 10:00 (new) Mass will include confirmation and first holy communion for 2nd graders.
At the 10:00 Mass on the 6th of this month, 4 people (I think they were all babies) were baptised.

It could be either. The Rite of Confirmation can take place in Mass or outside Mass. To be sure you will fulfill your Sunday obligation you should check with the organisers.
 
My son was confirmed last week (:extrahappy: :dancing: ) and it was a Mass celebrated by our bishop.
 
You would be better off asking the DRE or the confirmation coordinator. They should be able to tell you.

Poor choice of words.

What I meant was the Mass if celebrated would be celebrated by the Bishop of his designated representative and usually be specific to the Rite of Confirmation.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually not celebrated at a regular parish Sunday Mass, by the pastor, except for individuals being received into the Church. (with the Bishops permission)
 
I think it is preferred that all Sacraments, except Confession, be celebrated during a mass, if possible.

From Benedict XVI in the 2007 Sacramentum Caritatis:
“50. … In this regard, I would like to call attention to a pastoral problem frequently encountered nowadays. I am referring to the fact that on certain occasions – for example, wedding Masses, funerals and the like – in addition to practising Catholics there may be others present who have long since ceased to attend Mass or are living in a situation which does not permit them to receive the sacraments. At other times members of other Christian confessions and even other religions may be present. Similar situations can occur in churches that are frequently visited, especially in tourist areas. In these cases, there is a need to find a brief and clear way to remind those present of the meaning of sacramental communion and the conditions required for its reception. **Wherever circumstances make it impossible to ensure that the meaning of the Eucharist is duly appreciated, the appropriateness of replacing the celebration of the Mass with a celebration of the word of God should be considered. **(footnote 153: Cf. Propositio 35.)”

Thanks for the note. While a mass is preferred, there are many situations where it is not feasible or practical. This is a very important exception.
