Is the consecration still valid with word apostle instead of deciple

At mass today, during the consecration of the bread, the priest said: “He broke the bread, gave it to his apostles, and said” instead of “He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said”

Is this still a valid consecration?

He did say correctly “gave the cup to his disciples” for the wine.

I took both the bread and wine at communion just in case.

The words ‘this is my body’ and ‘this is my blood’ are the ones that bring about a valid Consecration, not ‘apostles’ or ‘disciples’ (nor ‘friends’, which is used in an approved version of the Eucharistic prayer designed for children).

Yes, it is. I second LilyM’s response.

The priest probably made an honest mistake. It is sad, however, that many priests take following the rubrics so lightly. Pray for them.

That’s interesting because one of our priests says “friends.” I always flinch. It’s good to know that it’s approved somewhere. I guess our priest thinks we are all children.

Approved where most of those attending are children, otherwise it’s NOT approved for use. It may still be valid , but it’s NOT approved for use in Mass where the majority are adults.
