Is the doctrine of Purgatory a dogma?

A Protestant friend recently asked me where in the Bible is Purgatory found. Thanks to this website and others like it I was able to find scriptures for what I feel are the most important parts of the teaching on Purgatory. I checked the Catechism to verify what I had come up with and to look for more.

I can’t find anything saying whether Purgatory is a Dogma or just a doctrine. If it is a dogma, is belief in any specific time spent in Purgatory required by the dogma?

“The souls of the just which, in the moment of death, are burdened with venial sins or temporal punishment due to sins, enter Purgatory.” (De Fide) This is a dogma of the Catholic Church. See “Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma” by Ludwig Ott, p.482. Also see out tract on the subject:
