Is the fear of judgement from people an irrational fear?

I understand that it is wise to fear God’s judgement, but what about judgement from other people?

If someone is getting abused or bullied by a large group of people, like an organization, what is the Catholic perspective on helping such a person?

Just for some clarity, are you the victim, a bystander, or someone who’s involved with the organization doing the harassment.

To your thread title, I would say fear of judgement is not irrational at all. We are primarily social animals, it’s normal to want to be liked and get along with people. Also, being misjudged can have serious real world problems, like getting driven from your job unfairly or your children being isolated at school.

That being said, you have to be true to what you know is the truth. If you’re being harassed because of your religious beliefs, or places into a stereotype because of race or sex or ethnicity, you have the right to defend yourself and clear your name.
Sometimes just giving people time to get to know you as a person can help.

That is definitely not irrational! Many times I have this fear myself.

In general, I would say no reason to fear other people’s judgment when you’re on the right. Many saints suffered such.
