I’ve been a big fan of Dr. Peterson and have read a good bit of Jung as well as Joseph Campbell whom I am aware are not catholic and thus should be read as such (I think some people take them as gospel) but I have found a lot of interesting ideas and valid theories and observations in their work. To me part of the significance of Christ is that he is a intermingling between the archetypal story and actual historical events. This makes sense if our minds and psyche are inclined to God and we are made to imitate Jesus. I think this makes sense in a natural law context we are made to imitate Jesus which is why the hero’s journey exists within our psyche. But I was wondering if people who know more than me on these topics have this opinion.

Not really a reply as such, but back in the 90s there was a popular book called Iron John about how modern men don’t have the old timey rights of passage anymore.

But I’m not sure it’s a “natural law” issue so much as a psychological theory.

Nnooooo? I don’t know why there might be a proposed link. The hero’s journey is a matter of literature. Story-telling. Structure. Drama.
