My son (Catholic) married a wonderful Southern Baptist girl. Their wedding was held in a Methodist Church. The ceremony was conducted by a Mehtodist minister. There was no one from the Catholic clergy (priest or deacon) present at the ceremony and no permission for the marriage was obtained form their diocese. Is this marriage, in the eyes of the Chruch, valid? Are they living in grave sin?

Hi,

The Catholic Church does not consider them to be validly married. They need to see a priest and, as long of neither of them is divorced, the priest can convalidate (bless) the marriage.
