Is the 'Rapture' from the Bible?

A Fundamentalist was trying to explain to me today how we are in the end times, the Tribulation has begun, etc.

As a Catholic I have never been told some would be taken up to heaven bodily and some would be left behind in the last days. Where do they get this from? Is this biblically sound?
 
In short–no it is neither Biblically sound nor is it supported by Tradition…
