Is the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in communion with Rome? I’ve researched around on Google and haven’t really got a clear answer. I have a good friend who claims they are, but I just want to double check. It sounds like a nice church to attend, but obviously I want to make sure it is not out of communion with Rome before I do any kind of serious participation in it.

From Wikipedia…

“The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church or Church of Malabar Syrian Catholics is an Eastern Catholic Major Archiepiscopal Church based in Kerala, India. It is a sui iuris particular church in full communion with the Pope and the worldwide Catholic Church, with self-governance under the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches.”

Yes, my Diocese has a Syro Malabar Priest and quite a big membership that attends those masses and celebrations.

Syro Malabar Qurbana in Aramaic (East Syriac) using the traditional Syriac instrumentation of the Church:

If you’d like to know more about the Syro Malabar Church and its Qurbana, The Christian Musicological Society of India is a great channel to follow on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCMSIndia

Evidently there is one in the Oklahoma City area. My son asked if we wanted to go on our next visit.
