The Church teaches that deliberately subverting the natural end of a human activity, like the use of contraceptives in the marital act, is sinful. In light of this, is it still permissible to consume artificial sweeteners designed to replace sugar without providing nourishment?

Contraception directly acts against a human good (procreation). NFP means that the couple is simply refraining from an action. No one is forced to actively achieve every possible human good at every possible moment. For example, we can refrain from telling a truth for a particular reason but we should avoid lying.

Whether a sweetener to a food or drink is natural or artificial is irrelevant. They achieve the same human good (taste) in the same manner.
