we could be in for christian persecution. maybe not by being enslaved, but by legal and social and cultural means.

What prompts your question? 🙂
It just seems to me that this life can act as a cleansing of the soul; from secularism to devout Catholicism. So much can happen at the hour of one’s death.

Is the world going through an Exodus of sorts?
Hebrews 13:14: “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”

Thus, we are exactly like the Hebrews wandering in the desert for 40 years, after their Exodus from slavery in Egypt.

This is part of why it is so wrong when people try to refashion the Catholic Faith into a political movement designed to elect the “right” politician so that the nation may be saved.

We Catholics have no country on the earth. No early nation can be saved, not by politics or any means. Only individual souls can be saved by them voluntarily joining the Kingdom of God.

Jesus said this directly to Pontius Pilate:

“My kingdom [nation] is not of this world." (John 18:36)

As Catholics, our “Passover” happened when Jesus defeated death and obtained for us eternal life through His passion, death and resurrection. That “Passover” is re-celebrated at every Mass.

Once we are Baptized, we then become part of the Chosen People who are wandering in the desert for 40 figurative years.

Then we finally cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land when we pass from this earthly world and, God willing, enter the life above of eternal love and security.

Thus, we can see how insignificant are the political entities of this earthly system, and how insignificant are the governments of these political entities. The government that matters is the government of the King. Jesus is our King and His government is the Kingdom of God.

Thus we can see how the obsession with politics that is encouraged by the news media and mass media commentators is mostly just a big waste of time, and furthermore, is ultimately anti-Christian, anti-Salvation, regardless of whether one’s preference is “conservative” or “liberal” agendas.
