I find the Douay-Rheims more enjoyable for it has that older english feel. But people I lend it to have a problem with the english. Is there a bible for the CC that uses American English? Is a lot lost in translation?

For instance in the KJV they don’t use the FULL OF GRACE when the angel speaks to Mary. (oops that is a Protestant bible)

I’ll continue using my Douay-Rheims bible, but I want to recommend a common english catholic bible to friends, since they don’t like the english in the DR.

Thanks

I like the RSV-CE which is published by Ignatius Press as the Ignatius Bible. It is a literal translation, but with modern English.

the New American Bible is a literal translation from the original languages renderd in standard American English and is the version approved for the lectionary in the US>
