Is there a list of music (songs and or musicians) approved by the Catholic Church?

I like music, but I want to make sure it’s ok to listen to certain bands, songs, etc…

If you mean music to be used at Mass, there are guidelines; not that they are always followed. If you are referring to secular music, there is no Church list of approved or rejected music or performers. Some things are matters of prudential judgment. It should be obvious that Christians should avoid entertainment with vulgar themes.

Another good starting point would be the rock album that was just released by Pope Francis. No, that’s not a typo, and it’s not a hoax - the pope released a rock album. I’m really surprised there hasn’t been more attention in Catholic circles. You can listen to the FREE album stream over at the Guardian’s web site:

Any theories as to why the pope’s rock album has dropped like…well, a lead zeppelin, to paraphrase the anecdote about Led Zeppelin’s name? The pope released a legit rock album and it’s nothing but crickets chirping. I don’t get it. 🤷

Well, it looks more like some musicians just took some of Francis’ speeches and set them to music. So that’s probably why there wasn’t an official press release from the Vatican about it.
 
Interesting. I haven’t heard anything about it here. Perhaps because of Thanksgiving and all the “Black Friday” sales events.
