Is there a rhetorical device which is calling out other rhetorical devices when you have no argument?
I hope that makes sense

Sorry, but it’s a bit hard to follow. Also, what would this have to do with moral theology?I hope that makes sense
If another poster’s comment relies on an argument in which there is a logical flaw, then there’s nothing wrong in pointing that out in your reply. That would not be rude in itself. It’s possible to do that politely, just as it’s also possible to do it rudely. Politely is recommended.Or as I like to call it being rude.
In my high school Logic and Philosophy class we learned about fallacies of relevance. Is there a rhetorical device which is calling out other rhetorical devices when you have no argument?
I hope that makes sense
Are you saying that this has happened to you? Would you care to quote an instance? Which forum, what thread? What tends to happen here is that just the name of the logical fallacy is given. That is the whole comment and to me that is rude.
It’s a straw man tactic. I don’t think you would term this type of attack as a rhetorical device. Is there a rhetorical device which is calling out other rhetorical devices when you have no argument?
