Is there any recommendation for Godparents?

I have some concerns about who the godparents of my child could be. My husband is catholic as well, but wasnt raised with the importance of the faith. He is wanting his cousin to be the godparent of our child and I am having a hard time with it. His cousin is confirmed but does not practice, he did not get married in the church and is currently going through a divorce. I just would like to pick godly people more or less and he is very adamant about having his cousin. Is there any recommendation for this? Am I being too judgemental on his cousin?
