I would say that if you are in the state of grace, a regular Mass-goer, someone who goes to Confession and receives Communion often, prays regularly, etc, that the state of your soul is good. A priest who visited my parish last week gave a homily where he said that it’s important not to overlook the simple and mundane things in life in order to find the flashier things. While people like Padre Pio are certainly very interesting and I’m also a big fan of him, it’s also very important to remember that you can receive Communion at Mass, provided you’re in the state of grace, and that will continually improve the state of your soul through the graces you receive.I have often wondered if there is anyone who is living today who is known to have the ability to read souls. I would make a trip straight out to see such person to gauge the state of my soul.
