I wonder is there really anything worth fighting for? Most of the time I don’t think there is I think we should just give up. Roll up our shores and leave the world. I think we should just roll up our families and shut down and leave the world.

I mean both.
I think that all war is evil and has no place in society. We should never ever ever fight wars. War is evil. We should just beat all our weapons into plough shares. We should have no weapons. The United States should lead the way.

I think there are plenty of things worth fighting for. It sounds like you do not, either literally or metaphorically. What is fighting “metaphorically” mean? Do you mean arguing? I guess we shouldn’t expect to see any more posts from you then?

IF everyone felt that way, Hitler and the Nazis would be running things. Social justice is well worth fighting for. Evil triumphs when the good do nothing. So many massacres are committed when folks ignore or delay trying to find a solution.

Just because you leave the world alone doesn’t mean the world’s going to leave you alone.

There is no perfect or just society, but some are better than others. The ones that are better are better because people cared about them and fought for them. It would have been easier for people like Martin Luther King, Jr., Lech Walesa, Vaclav Havel, or Nelson Mandela to give up and walk away. All of them paid a tremendous price for what they did, but their societies and our world are better for it.

I hate war. My country tore itself apart for years, although we never got quite to the point of a civil war. War is horrible, horrible, horrible. But sometimes it’s a horror we have to endure.

The trick is in knowing when.

Like most things, to think that everything needs to be fought over by war is wrong, but to think nothing needs to be fought over by war is wrong too. War may not solve anything, but it can defend against worst things.
