Is there Jewish Tradition in our Faith?

In the Catholic Church we have Sacred Scripture and Apostolic Tradition. Is there a similar Jewish Tradition in our religion? For example, The Talmud or other such writings. What can they tell us about the Old Testament? 🤷
 
There is Jewish tradition even the New Testament. :o

Examples:
Jude 1:14-15 quotes from the extra-biblical text of 1 Enoch 1:9

In Jude 1:9 we are told about the fight between Satan and Michael the Archangel over the body of Moses. This tale is also included in an extra-biblical text called “The Assumption of Moses.”

And here is an excerpt from EWTN.com:*Jesus delivers this command to the crowds: “The scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice” (Matt. 23:2-3)…
As the first verse of the Mishna tractate Abôte indicates, the Jews understood that God’s revelation, received by Moses, had been handed down from him in uninterrupted succession, through Joshua, the elders, the prophets, and the great Sanhedrin (Acts 15:21). *See other examples at EWTN

The Church Fathers write extensively about the Old Testament and can help us understand it. One of the writings of the Church Fathers that I appreciate most is Justin Martyr’s Dialog with Trypho. It was written in like 150 A.D. or something very early like that, and in it he attempts to show that the entire Old Testament is a prophesy of Jesus, by extensive quotations, a deep look at where it starts and how it develops and where it is headed, and by doing that he shows that the whole Old Testament points toward Jesus and makes the most sense in light of Christianity. It’s a beautiful work and I have benefited from it a lot. Other Church Fathers wrote similar works, and they inform us a lot about what hte Old Testament means.
 
I had a theology professor this pass semester (a Benedictine monk) who once said “You can’t be more Jewish than a Catholic.” The Jewish tradition is part of our heritage. In fact, Christ is the fulfillment of the Jewish law. This means that everything in the Jewish faith led up to Christ since they were awaiting the Messiah.
 
There is a true Jewish tradition in the Church that was carried over by the Apostles, who were Jewish. But as for the Pharisic Judaism that rejects Jesus as the Messiah, only those things that are applicable to the Christian faith. Just as how great Christian minds such as St. Thomas Aquinas who had the gift to glean from philosophers, there are other great minds such as Nicholas of Lyra who gleaned from Jewish commentators like Rashi.

The New Testament and the Apostles have taught us the correct way to understand and apply Jewish tradition, and that is through Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul in his letters have shown us how to understand the Old Covenant.

Our canon of the OT is completely Jewish Sacred Tradition… Jesus and the Apostles used the Septuagint, which is why we use it today, but there is not an inspired list of what books belong in the OT.

The Seat of Moses is another Jewish Sacred Tradition, not mentioned anywhere in the OT, yet affirmed by Christ. Jesus transferred the teaching authority to His One Church.

Our understanding about the sacrament of matrimony and the evil of abortion also comes from Jewish sacred tradition. I supposed it would be a long list if we were to delve into it.

Just one more, though, that relates to the dispute over the body of Moses, mentioned in the NT, ,but nowhere in the OT.

Jude 9-10
9 But when the archangel Michael contended with the devil and disputed about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring a condemnation of slander against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Oh and that reminds me of another one.

2 Tim 3:8-9
8 As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people, of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, also oppose the truth.

Although the story is contained in the OT, the names of the people were not written. They came down through sacred tradition, just like we have the names of Mary’s parents.
