Is their scripture that you understand that you found changed your “view of religion”?

For example 1 cor. 14:26.

By scripture, I take it you are referring to the Bible…? Well, yes, when I read scripture, Old Testament or New Testament, I feel I am in contact with the divine. Scripture, for the most part, is very serious. (Now, the Jews view the book of Esther as a riotously funny book – society just didn’t work the way that is described there.)

There are rules there for how to live life and set a very high standard, and they’re consistent throughout the Bible. Any book I read or movie I watch usually hinges on breaking those rules. I don’t know of a volume with higher moral standards than the Bible. That is my view of religion.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but I’ll answer what I think you’re asking.

Though I realized early on in my return to Catholicism, John 14:6 very plainly laid out what I already knew at the time:

Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

Before I became interested in religion, I figured that all religions were equal, that “all faiths were different paths to the same destination”. When I became a believer again, I had to ditch this idea. Before I read this Scripture passage, I already knew all faiths couldn’t be equal, but this verse served to reinforce that idea in me.
