Ihave a simple analogy that works for me.
Imagine creation as a sheet of paper.
Now punch a small circular in the centre.
That hole is evil, a privation of what should be there.
You want absolute evil…just keep making that hole as big as you can.
But to do that we lose the surrounding paper border…which means the hole no longer exists.
Conclusion…absolute evil does not actually exist.

So, you’re saying that if Satan asked for forgiveness, then God might grant this? Then why is it we do not pray for a penitent Satan? That is if all evil stems from Satan’s ‘privation’ of evil, why not deal directly with the source? If not for this we would have no knowledge of evil, or was that predictated with the tree of knowledge?
My dad having been a minister, I got in real trouble at about age 3 for asking this…about why we didn’t pray for the devil…it seemed to make more sense than this round about way of doing things…they were not amused.

Satan is incapable of repentance, just as the damned souls are. But no, it’s not as though God is holding something against him, and he couldn’t return to God even if he were capable of changing his mind.

God’s love is the only Truth there is. All else stems from nomenclature that man has placed upon it. Innocent, pure love…beautiful, eternal. Is it beyond emotional for you, yet retaining the emotionality due to being human? (And please, by all means retain the emotionality if you do believe and share that love, because there are lots of us still so human -we wouldn’t know what else to be since that’s what God created us-that we dare not think of such perfection as being 100% infallible, let alone citing chapter verse or catechism for every perceived ill or proof. And oddly we think it helps share that love and tolerance and cooperation as we are not all standardized theologic clones nor meant to be.)
If there is no absolute about God’s goodness for you, then there are faith issues that should be addressed. For if God is not absolute to you, then you can receive no absolution from sin as He would have no power over it? So hence, it would be a moot point, like guilt. Yet for society to exist, are these not necessary? I often find it amusing when atheists say “I love you” If God is love, then what are they lying about? And how does the agnostic ever have a family? Wisdom is that there is none…except the value you place upon these, and that we must as a society or we shall annihilate ourselves. If those are not reasons enough…there’s a book that will give you evidence we yutzes will pull the same bozo moves over and over again for an eternity and the only thing that saves us from the ills of our own passions is LOVE. The only true love is God’s love, love of God. As humans, we often need manifestations of that truth. Help share it, not cast doubt upon it.
An aside for a little understanding. We know many rules about child rearing. Yet you ever know a little kid ya really loved? I mean really loved? Now that lil kid did something wrong…but you knew it was wrong, but you thought it cute. Forgiving that wrong was not a problem, correct? Yet if that kid repeats it, it wouldn’t take long for you to understand how it could harm the child, and your tolerance would wane? But the severity matters. But for that brief point in time…you were supreme, you were the one holding the yay or nay of the action…but will you chastise yourself for thinking it cute? Just some fun ways to think of love…more comprehensible in the right terms…
