For a long time, I have had masturbation problems, especially during my late teens. There are thoughts that have been concerning me a lot that is if there happened to be a piece of cloth contaminated with semen and later on a family member or someone not related touched and so on, would that be considered incest or fornification in a way at all? I have OCD and scrupulosity happens to be something affects me at times and can spend hours in some cases repetitively overthinking different things and making matter more complex at times. It has been painful at times. I have been getting professional help but it has been a struggle at times.

I have the understanding that incest would be to literally have sexual intercourse with someone blood related to you and fornification would be intercourse with someone outside of marriage. So I suspect that it wouldn’t be considered fornification or incest in this case but have been uncomfortable with the fact that if someone was to have contact with the cloth and then later consumed something or etc. And due to embarrassment did not warn them.

I have thoughts that I might have put them in the position of grave sin due to this. I do have full knowledge that masturbation is a grave sin that really corrupts oneself morally. Due to this, I have been fighting against it.

Please help

God Bless

Please stick with that professional advice. They know you better and have experience. We’re random strangers off the internet who don’t know you and aren’t experienced. In fact, what some people say here could actually be harmful. So I understand if you’re having a hard time, but our advice is nothing compared to the professional help you’re getting. The only help I could conceive us truly being able to give you here is for you to post in the prayer intentions asking for prayers with impurity. (Please spare the details.)

Since you have OCD, the only thing you can do is ask your therapist this question and let him/her guide you. We do not want to give advice that will harm instead of helping you. Don’t be embarrassed…your therapist can help you with this issue.

Also, make an appointment with your priest or regular confessor and ask him for help with your scrupulosity and your struggle with impurity. Explain your thoughts and be guided by his direction.

God bless you!

P.S. I moved your thread to Catholic Living/Family Life where this topic is more appropriate.
