Is this a mortal sin?

A week or two ago, one of my roommates had a party at the place we stay at. Some of his friends came over and i knew some of them and talked to them. Most of them were drinking, some more than I think they should have. I had to get up early in the morning so I told my brother i was going to sleep, and there were two people left who drove together. These two people had both been drinking that night, but one of them seemed to have drank more than the other, and it seemed like this person said he was going to be driving home. I was in my room and I heard the two people say they were leaving, and I thought i should go see if he was ok to drive or if he should not be driving, but I did not go check. The person who I thought was driving made it seem like he was intending to drive, but since I did not get up and go check, the person who had drank less may have driven him home, even though it did not seem like this was the case before I went to my room. Is this a mortal sin of omission for not saying anything to this kid about not driving before he left?

I susepct this was not a mortal sin. It would be best to ask a priest about it. It might be a good idea to let them know you were concerned. This will stick in their mind a while and may prompt them, through their conscience, to take more precautions next time.

You did the best by not drinking too much, if at all, and going to bed. I am sure all present noticed you departed and knew why. This was a great example for them to learn the merit of getting up early. Give yourself a lot of credit and praise God.

Yeah I did not drink at the party. I just felt like maybe I should have gotten up and told the person to make sure he does not drive, but instead I choose not too and this has been worrying me
