The Parish priest at my church tells the congregation, “You will only catch me if you’re dying or dead”
To me this feels a little like a kick in the mouth.
It is the impression that they go on to pursue academic roles and other pursuits and do 2 morning masses a week and 2 on weekends. It is true, he is too busy. Confessions are a no go with him, need to go elsewhere.
I know priests are doing the work of two, but while they are priests for life they are only available as part time parish priests.
The future at my parish doesn’t get any rosier either. Priest attendance for masses will be alternate weekends. Specially trained ministers of the eurcharist will lead the prayer service.
I guess I will have to migrate further into the city.
I am free to express a feeling, and dont wish to have it disected or argued.
Are 'nt priests exclusively priests anymore?
I want to belong to a parish that is a little less racy pacy, and I wont feel like I’m inching on someones time.

My local parish has three priests, and two daily Masses. I know, not every parish has Mass every day, but since we have three priests, we should have at least three Masses every day. And one of them should be in the evening.

we have one priest with responsibility for two parishes, who somehow manages to have 5 Masses each weekend and at least one a day in each parish (with some help from other priests, which we can’t always count on). He also has at least 3 diocesan assignments, any of which could be a full time job. If Catholics want more priests they should stop contracepting and bear the children God wants to send them, it is in good Catholic families that priests are born and raised.

That’s just nuts. Why would this man even be a priest?? Can you find another parish? Just so you know, there are good priests out there. Our priest works hard for us, masses almost everyday, and three on Sunday, he’s always available for counseling and confessions (you may have to make an appointment, but he’s there). I’m sorry your priest said this.

Agree:thumbsup: Sounds to me like the OP’s Priest is over-worked and under appreciated and should be offered Prayers. Also Pray for Vocations. If there were more Priests this problem would not exist.
