you mean like when someone is expecting or desiring the praise of others? yes that is pride,
which makes sense if you look at it’s opposite virtue, humility, which is the practice and acknowledgment of truth, and the truth is, we are nothing, deserve nothing, and can do nothing without God,
we should be gracious and give all glory to God when someone does compliment or praise us, but likewise we should be happy and content when we are forgotten and not praised,
although even though we should give all praise and glory we receive to God, it is not pride to feel good or happy when we do receive such compliments, what is pride is when we think we do deserve such things, or thinking ourselves better then others, or if we tend to think often or constantly about ourselves in an admiring way,
it is a sin, pride in any form is a sin, but it’s not a mortal sin,
of course we are supposed to try and overcome all of our sins, so whether big or small, it should be taken seriously…but there’s no need to stress out about it.
does that help?
