Only if you give into the thought. You can choose to walk away (give it no further thought) or mull it over (in which case you may open a door better left closed). Whatever you think about will inevitably return to you, so the thing is to dwell upon what the bible says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:7-9). Whatever you put into your mind goes into your heart and comes out of your mouth.
We are in a spiritual battle, the flesh (body) battling against the desires of the world, but you have to realize what is happening here The devil is very familiar with each of our weaknesses and will use them to his advantage. Someone with a weakness for excessive eating (gluttony) is as much a sinner as someone with a weakness for sexual sin, but the saddest thing is not that we sin, but that we fail to call upon our Savior for help.
When an impure thought or occasion of sin comes upon you, do you call out to Jesus for help or do you despair and give in? One of the shortest prayers ever recorded is, “Jesus help me”. All believers should be familiar with these words for Jesus stands at the door of our hearts, ever ready to shower His grace, His mercy and His love upon us, for we are all sinners and we all fall short of the glory of God.
