Is this a valid reason to not go to mass?

Please talk to your priest, just for your own peace of mind. I think staying home was a prudent idea. I seriously considered it this weekend too, but because I’m just getting over a big time sinus infection and cough like you wouldn’t believe. We don’t have a Mass that isn’t crowded on Saturday evening or Sunday morning, so I just tried to stay away from people, and at the handshaking time, I just told the two ladies seating near me I was too germy from coughing. I think if I lived in your area I’d have stayed home too.

The probable cases of swine flue in my area have gone from 5 to 30 in less than a week. I’m seriously tempted to start walking around with a medical mask on.

Without a doubt the flu can be serious and harmful to some. From some recent readings of the pandemic in 1918 the churches were filled with people praying. I think that is something to consider. Someone mentioned on an earlier point that they have never gotten sick at Mass. I believe that no matter what disease we or anyone has, if you really believe that the wine is Jesus’s blood and the bread is Jesus’ body…Do you think that anyone can get sick from one another if it really is Jesus’ blood that we are drinking and his body that we are eating?

This is exactly why we should NOT be holding hands during the Our Father… Where does this practice of holding hands come from anyway—It’s not the Pope I can guarantee that!!!

I think we should all go to Mass more and PRAY even harder!!! And especially don’t hold hands during the Our Father— The Holy Father has been asking us to be more reverent during Mass anyway. If you’re really worried about getting sick, get a Magnificat which has the readings in it so you don’t have to touch the missiles.

Receive Jesus, PRAY more, go to confession frequently, NO holding hands during the Our Father, nod during peace, and bring your own missile and you should be fine.
