Is this Apostasy?

my brother received the sacrament of confirmation. But then years later he left the Church. Is this apostasy?

From the CCC: 2089 Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. "Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him."

Does your brother reject Christianity, for example, did he become Muslim or Jewish or Mormon?
 
I don’t know if he will. I pray when he gets older he will find a wife who will lead him to Jesus. Or just wake up from this rebellious nature

I wouldn’t read it that way. Most atheists simply claim that they don’t see evidence for God, or some such thing. They do not “totally repudiate” the faith. There’s a difference between a run-of-the-mill atheist and a militant atheist. At the very least, I doubt that either you or I are qualified to state anything about whether Joe’s brother is apostate.
 
My point is just about the phrase “totally repudiate”. An atheist, by definition, believes that God does not exist. An agnostic claims to be unsure. I don’t know under what conditions either of those views would constitute a total repudiation. That sounds like a question for an expert – even looking from externals.

But perhaps you’re more familiar with the Church’s meaning of the term “repudiate” than I am.
