Is This Blasphemy?

On my way to Mass this morning I turned the radio on and I have heard this show before. It is called the Holy Host. When the host of the show comes on he states that he is Jesus Christ.

Then he proceeds to take questions from listeners about solutions in their lives as Christians or questions on the Bible.

I feel it is blasphemy to call yourself Jesus Christ. I assume the name of the show also refers to him the “Holy Host”, as he is the host of the program.

He sounds like a fundamentalist. It really upsets me to hear someone refer to themselves as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even if you are a fundamentalist I would think that they would be horrified by this, it make me wonder if some fundamentalists have no intelligence at all if they would accept him as Jesus Christ or not even call him out on naming himself after Christ.

The show bills itself as “interactive radio theater designed to teach people about themselves and the historical person of Jesus”, and “likens the show to a history teacher dressing up like Abraham Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin to help people put flesh on the bones of history.”

It would appear that they think it’s not much different than a screen actor playing Christ in a movie.

The resources links at the website are all non-Catholic or anti-Catholic.

It would appear that they think it’s not much different than a screen actor playing Christ in a movie.

They can put any spin on it as they like but it is completely against the Christian faith. It would be interesting to see this man stand in front of the Real Jesus Christ at his judgement.

I turned it on in the beginning around 8:00 AM station 790 in California and neither time have I heard them explain the motives behind the name used. Which website is it if you don’t mind giving me a link.

They can put any spin on it as they like but it is completely against the Christian faith.

I’m not sure that the host’s role-playing itself violates any tenet of the faith. I am sure that anything he says that contradicts Catholic doctrine does.

But I certainly agree that it’s in extremely poor taste, and I strongly suspect that someday he’ll be feeling very uncomfortable about having done it in that manner.

I googled “Holy Host” and the fifth hit was a link ot a newspaper atricle about the show. It’s called “The Jesus Christ Show”, and the website is at www.thejesuschristshow.com
