A priest recently told me that the following prayer is anti-redemptive.
He does not want us to use it as part of our school’s living rosary.
Please advise if he is correct or misinformed.

The Prayer is: Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to heaven especially those who most need Thy mercy.
Thank you,

Hi,

I hardly think that Our Lady would ask us to pray an anti-redemptive prayer. To ask for forgiveness of our sins and to be spared from the fires of hell does not deny the salvation wrought by our Savior. Through our free will and the effects of original sin, we are all capable of losing our salvation through the sins we commit. Such a prayer asks the Lord to have mercy on us with the help of His grace.

I can understand some Protestants not understanding this prayer because of their ‘once saved, always saved’ belief, but not a Catholic priest!
