Is this forum title "Traditional" divisive?

I too have wondered weather the term “traditionalist Catholic” is deviceive. However, I tend to use it only as a lable to show people that I have a high reverence for the EF. I am a Roman Catholic, and attending the EF dosent make you a better Catholic, it just means you are either frustrated by liturgical abuses (which are wide spread in places like the US), or feel the EF is safer due to a lower possibility of liturgical abuses among other reasons. However, I won’t even try to define a difference between Contemporary Catholics and Traditionalist Catholics as both terms are controversial and I don’t want to lable one side as more reverent than the other (the moderators hate that, with good reason).

Now i am risking being banned by saying this, but one of the main differences I see between “Contemporary Catholics” and “Traditionalist Catholics” (keep in mind that both terms are arbitrary) is that faithful contemporary Catholics mainly attend the OF, while traditional Catholics attend the EF (or at least wish they could like me).

Another supposed difference is that while a Contemporary Catholic might be willing to tolerate some thing like alter girls, a traditionalist Catholic will be bothered by it. Or a traditionalist Catholic might feel proud about or have a strong connection with the historical Church and thus try to defend it, a contemporary Catholic will think of the church as a modern institution and disdain things like the inquisition. While a Traditionalist Catholic might see himself as a soldier of Christ, a contemporary Catholic might see himself as a child of God.

However, the above examples are just that, examples, and are not attemptes to label or cause division. Nither view is better than the other, as both are rooted in the truth of the Holy Catholic Church.👍

I hope you bared with me as I navigated through a sticky subject. Please don’t rage at me…(nervous laugh)😊

God Bless and Ave Maria!

I think the real question should be is there any evidence that the forum title has caused a problem within the forum? I would think this forum has been around long enough for us to see if the fears of the OP have come true or not. Frankly I don’t see any evidence that points to the title of the forum as being the cause of divisions among us. To be honest I hardly pay attention to the title of the forum after I click on it.😉

Exactly. COTT vs CITH discussion here or on Liturgy and Sacraments. No difference at all. Same arguments on both sides.
