Is This Group In good Standing With Rome?

It’s a little tough to tell; they certainly don’t go out of their way to tell you a lot about themselves, do they?

From what I can make out, as a school and social organization they do not have to be in “standing” with a bishop at all. They don’t appear to call themselves a “Catholic society” or “Catholic school,” so they’re just a private group of people, which does not require episcopal approval. The only appearance of the word “Catholic” on their FAQ is in calling themselves “a civic organization of Catholic inspiration,” and on their Who We Are page, they cite the 1983 CIC in describing themselves as “a private association of faithful.”

As to their views, their page of links to “Catholic sites” looks good, as it has links to the Vatican’s official site, the FSSP, and the ICKSP, and no links to the SSPX or anything I would identify as a schismatic or unfaithful group. There’s a link in their navbar to America Needs Fatima, a website which appears to acknowledge that the consecration of Russia has indeed been accomplished. I don’t see anything that smacks of dissent about the Pope, the modern Mass, etc., which you usually find pretty quickly with sedes and the like.

All in all, it looks quite decent from a faithfulness point of view, at least from my brief review. According to Wikipedia, they “adhere to the traditional teachings (pre-Vatican II) of the Roman Catholic Church,” but if that kind of claim is on their website, they’re hiding it well. They barely talk about Vatican II at all, and the term “Novus Ordo” does not appear on their website.

Yes they are in good standing with the Church. I have been a member of America Needs Fatima for about 6 years. Yesterday (Saturday the 16th.) nation wide we had over 5900 individual groups praying the Rosary in public, such as parks, ect.

Jesus, our Lords peace be whit You.
All groups as long as they don’t do something that a catholic would do are OK whit Rome,as far as I know. We need to keep in mind that we must follow the Bible cause the Church does, everything we “make up” by ourselfs and is against the Church is not OK.

Yes, they are a conservative group and in good standing (I’ve spoken with some of their members in the past).

Their rule of life includes Daily Mass and Communion together with 15 decades of the Rosary.

They do tend to favour the Tridentine Liturgy rather than the Novus Ordo.

And they are very anti-communist, with a strong focus on Fatima.

Hi, you did mean "wouldn’t do " ? I’m sure you meant wouldn’t, just mentioning it before someone starts howling lol.

God Bless

*Dear HCC,

Having been affiliated with this group growing up and still keeping in contact with members of it I have not heard that they are not in good standing with the church.

But I will have to say that if you are looking to join them please use a lot of discernment with what they say. It is because of what I learned from them in the years that my family was associated with them and then my father’s own ideas that played the key factors as to why I had such a hard time coming back to the church again. I do believe that it was only because of Divine Providence that I did make it back.
Another reason I am saying to use discernment is because very recently I spoke to a member and asked them whether or not the group believed that the Consecration of Russia to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart had been done or not. The response given was that, “there were good reasons to believe that the consecration was not done correctly but, when they give there presentations on Fatima they have to say as Rome says.” I believe those were the exact words.
The biggest concern I have with this group is just that. They seem to say on one hand that they follow our Apostolic Leaders in their leadership and guidance, but then they sit back say how there are good reasons to show that our Apostolic Leaders are not leading us and guiding us correctly. The whole thing that makes this even more confusing is that it is not about all the leadership and guidance of our Apostolic Church Leaders, just some of it. From what I remember as a child they had nothing good to say about Pope John Paul II and a few other popes or about Blessed Mother Theresa and that nothing good ever came out of Vatican II and I believe some even went as far back as Vatican I. From what I understood the line of reasoning to be was that all the errors that were being seen in the Church where direct results from these Councils and the poor leadership our Church had and still has. Although, from what I have gathered, they do have great hope that Pope Benedict XVI will set things right again. But from past experiences I question what they consider “right.”

Please do not get me wrong, I loved the group and as a child I greatly admired and still do admire a lot of what they stand for and do. I know they truly do mean well and truly do believe they are doing the right thing. I just really have my concerns in their efforts to do the “right thing.” Are they helping the confusing state the Church is in right now or just causing more confusion by the way they choose to come up with good reasons as to why our Apostolic Church Leader’s leadership and guidance should be blamed and challenged instead of learned.

Anyway, just thought I would give you my own personal experiences in as much as I remember and in some ways still experience.

*Dear HCC,

I do believe I need to come back here to apologize to you, anyone else on these forums, and to the group themselves for any scandal or slander I have caused this group and everyone else in answering your question.
A dear friend is hopefully trying to help me understand how to avoid this in the future.

With my sincerest apologies,

Simple soul
