is this lust

So wait… It is only if you Desire for a lustful thing. Then the look becomes a sin? The look ITSELF is not a sin? While on the internet I was reading the news, and an advertisement was on the side, with a very revealing image. I tried to minimize the screen and look away, but had a slight look down.

(I dont wan’t to change the thread, I just notice it is a similar situation.)

So the look of itself is not a sin? Is it the desire for lust?
So one could enjoy the artwork from say the Renaissance (which has some nudity) and unless a lustful desire/though comes into mind by consent, you are in no way damaging/risking your immortal soul?

This is sorta similar to the question that was being asked.

A lustful look is of course sinful but to notice an attractive woman in the store is not per se a sin. however when presented with certain images – yes one should look away and it can be a sin to knowingly and willingly look…depends on the image. etc

need help.

as i was in the car and stoped i was looking at a women and trying not to look lower down and trying to look up towards her face. for a spilt sceond my eyes just looked a her butt and i quickly looked away. there was not lust or after thought just maybe an attaction feeling

and i did not think about it much until the evening thinking i may have commited mortal sin.

would this just be venial please tell it is so i can get on with the week

It’s a normal response for a male to ‘look’. To be honest about it doesn’t make it any easier, however. In fact, if taken further, it can become ‘stuck’ in your mind as a fantasy-desire, and that becomes another moral issue.

I don’t think what happened with you would fall under the category of either mortal or venial sin. It becomes sin when you fantasize about it which can be venial unless it actually turns into somesort of physical/sexual pleasure on your part. ‘Undressing’ another person in your mind can also be a form of adultery. As Jesus said, even if you look at another with lust, you have already committed adultery in your heart.

There is no eroticism without repression; there is no passion without restraint! Every Catholic should know that. Being too strict doesn’t help in my opinion. A scrupulous person should take the benefit of the doubt. He/she is not sure whether he/she has committed a mortal sin or not; so he/she is not to blame. I wouldn’t say that of another who is not scrupulous cause probably he/she would enjoy every moment of it and that makes it serious;
