Is it possible, does anyone know, for a person to become possessed while wearing blessed Rosary and Brown Scalpular? (I am NOT asking because I think I’m possessed.)

If they have faith enough to be wearing a devotional for the right reasons (they’re NOT a “magic talisman”), then I doubt they have much to worry about, unless they put themselves in a very precarious situation. Such as dabbling in the occult, including trying to perform an unauthorized exorcism, etc.

It is possible for anyone in mortal sin to become possessed, regardless of their attire. Remeber, Judas was a chosen disciple of Christ, before Satan entered him to do his evil work.

As was previously noted, faith and grace are the repellants of the devil, since it is through these that Christ and the Holy Spirit work.

I think it’s unlikely if the person is wearing it faithfully, but I won’t go so far as to say it is impossible.

That’s what I thought…I meant to put this in the Back Fence, but accidently put it here.😊

We are always under the danger of possession, sometimes it’s as extreme in the movies (although it could be a mental thing) to simple whispering and temptation in our ear.

Rosaries should only be warn by the chosen who devoted their lives to God whole heartedly (Priesthood and Sisterhood), never by the common Christian. Lucifer tends to target the most attached to their faith as someone who ‘falls from grace’ has a greater impact on others than someone who has sinned repeatedly.

Temptation is not possession, but the lowest form of demonic attack. Here is a link about demonic attacks: ignatiusinsight.com/features/framorth_excerpt2_aug04.asp.

Most people that don’t dabble with the occult and are not in a very consistant state of mortal sin, are not at risk of possession.

Also, there is no official Church teaching that Rosaries cannot be worn by laity. Naturally, the people that choose to wear one should be devout and also pray the Rosary and it should never be worn with immodest clothing.

The rosary and scapular are not magic; they are simply nice things that help us in our spiritual lives. Your faith properly belongs in God, not in carrying or wearing things.

And this is not a possession issue. You are at risk of sinning at all times – including during prayer, and even during Mass. There is no “magic” thing or place to protect you. Place your trust in God, not in anything you do.

I know their not “magic,” (“magic” comes from demons) but they do help to ward off evil spirits. God works through these things with His Grace. Possession is not sinning; everyone sins, but very few are possessed.

Nope. Personally I wouldn’t worry about possession. The best way to avoid it is ti have good faith in Christ and only fear God not the demons.

@OP: yes, it is fully possible, the only defense against darkness is light. Which is why I really like SwissGuard’s answer!

“Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
John 12:31

“The prince of the world comes. He has no power over me.”
John 14:30

“*It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in princes. *”
Psalm 117

“He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”
Psalm 90

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
John 15:9

Some pretty good answers have been given already to this topic, but I still want to say something:

You won’t get possessed when wearing an Scapular if you don’t want to and truly believe Mary is protecting you (doing stuff like getting involved in occultism or playing Ouija is practically asking the devil to possess you, so even if you are using an scapular, Mary can’t protect you if you don’t want to). I know that they aren’t magical objects, but Both the Scapular and the Rosary, when blessed and when worn with faith, they summon the presence and protection of the Blessed Virgin which demons fear infinitely more than any other saint or angel.

I don’t actually think I’m going to be possessed, but I do sometimes speak in tounges and in my case, it comes from one or more demons. I can control it, except for one very brief time when it was involuntary. It’s been an off and on thing since I was seventeen. It had vanished for months–probably at least most of a year, but then came back in early November because of some stupid things I did the month prior. It has since gotten a lot better, but I still have been using it a little, but usually I’m wearing the sacramentals I mentioned while doing this, as well as carrying a Crucifix Medal of St. Benedict in my pocket, although I don’t have them on just in case I do this; I try not to do this and when I do I confess it very soon after.

However, I thought I sensed God recently, warning me that if I don’t stop this altogether, I might become possessed so I begged Him that at least that wouldn’t happen, but that if something like that needed to happen (or however I phrased it) than could it be perhaps just a little bit of demonic oppression (It’s not exactly something I want, but it’s a lot better than possession.)
