I need to know if I stole.

I bought a new weedeater from a store almost two months ago. It has a 90 day warranty for replacement, refund or repair. I didn’t like the head trimmer on it so I wanted to take it off and see if I could replace it. Instead of using a ratchet I used an air gun (lots of torque and makes job faster). Well, the air gun stripped the threads on the bolt because I couldn’t get the nut off. It just spun in place.

I took the weedeater back to the store and told them that the head was broken; the head wouldn’t spin and won’t cut when the trigger is squeezed. They asked me if I wanted it fixed. It would take two weeks. I said I need one sooner. They asked if I wanted a replacement or a refund. I said a refund. They did not question me anymore since I had my receipt.

Did I commit a sin? What I mentioned above is very close to the conversation that took place at the store.

Please help…

…yes, and lying too… but hey, who am i to judge…

Peace:thumbsup:

The store owners/employees have no interest in getting ripped off, and obviously they didn’t think you were doing so. Perhaps “poorly executed user modification” was covered by the warranty.

yep. It is stealing and I think you already knew that in your heart.

I have been to confession and will be doing my penance.

Thanks!

stealing… yes.
lying … yes. Even silence when there is a duty to speak -is a lie.
