Born protestant, want to convert to catholism because I feel it fits me better, would appreciate any help anyone could give. I was raised atheist by my parents even though I was named protestant when I was born. However I don’t feel that i belong in the protestant church. The tradition of 2000 years of the catholic church feels to me the it’s the true faith, Now when I have grown older I have felt a wierd feeling, i don’t know how to explain it, a feeling ot emptiness, and I’ve been drawn to catholism, because I think it’s the ONLY true faith. Either way I have no idea on how to become a catholic, and i’d appreicate any tips and suggestions you guys would have. Thank you!

PS, I’ve already messaged my nearby catholic church!, will still appreciate tips and suggestions though!

Edit:

I don’t know much about religion at all, but there’s something about the catholic faith thats sucks me in, I’d like to hear advice and suggestions from other members to give me advice on my journey.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Meet with and discuss this with a Catholic priest.
  2. Pray and ask God to help direct you and bring you closer to Him.
P.S. We can pray for you too, to grow in faith and hopefully to join us as a member of the Catholic Church.

Thank you very much, really appreciate that someone took the time to reply to my post. I’ll pray that I find god. I’m going to speak to my catholic priest tomorrow.

Wishing you the best of luck. If you would like to come back and update us after you’ve spoken with the priest and thought about it some more, please feel free to do so. God Bless You.

Of Course I will! Problem is that catholism is very weak(not weak but lutheranism/athemism dominates) in sweden right now, luckily there’s a church in my home town, so i’ll go there tomorrow. I’ll be updating you all tomorrow! thank you for your kind words. God bless!

Sincerest Prayers: may your journey bring you peace friend.
Our Father who art in heaven…
Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace…
Glory Be to the Father…
Amen…

you’ve come to the right place, no doubt about it

there are a lot of people & resources here that can help you

i know the catholic church is in a difficult position in much of europe, but especially in scandanavia

pray hard and i will, too…

as will the board as a whole

God bless you

are there any Catholic bookstores near you or a public library? before I joined the Catholic church I wanted to read and learn about it. there is a good book called Catholicism for Dummies that will tell you the basics of Catholicism. I would visit Catholic bookstores and browse books, saints, prayers, rosaries, etc.
there is a lot to learn and don’t let it overwhelm you.
you can ask any questions you have here.
hopefully, you will hear back from the Catholic church you contacted and they can assist you.

The most likely response you will receive from the parish you messaged will be about starting RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Typically it starts in the fall with baptism at Easter.

As far as suggestions:
Go to Mass as often as you can. The only thing you are not permitted to do is receive communion. At the beginning of my journey, I would go, sit in the back, not really participating, until I was more comfortable.

Read books geared toward conversion. Use your local library or if you can afford to buy use a Catholic book store or my favorite, Amazon.

Watch EWTN if available in your area.

Continue here on CAF. Just understand that we are mostly laity speaking our opinion or understanding of a topic.

Start living as a Catholic Christian. If your morals and values need adjusting (I’m not saying they do) then start to adjust them to Catholic morals and values.

Use online resources carefully. Not all of them are geared toward building a faithful Catholic. Some claim to teach Catholicism but in reality it is a person’s or group’s opinion of what Catholicism should be.

Most of all, pray. Have conversations with God about your desire to convert. He will never lead you down a wrong path.

Be assured many people will be praying for you.
