Is this too much?

Do you think it would be too much to wear a Miraculous Medal, and a brown scapular, and do the de Montfort Total Consecration?
Should I just pick one devotion and stick to it?

If I wore the medal and the scapular do you think it would be necessary to pray the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin (as part of the scapular devotion) and the Little Crown of the BVM (as part of the Montfortian Consecration) and also the rosary all the time?

It seems like a lot to do at the same time but I would like to do the scapular thing. I have already done the Total Consecration and I pray the Little Crown and the Rosary.

Do you think it would be too much to do it all at the same time?

Thanks and God Bless

If that is what you want to do I don’t see any harm in it. It’s not as if one cancels out the other or some silly thing.

As long as you can do the devotions without too much trouble, then do them.

Personally, I wear a couple of medals and a brown scapular. They are less devotional than a reminder of God’s presence and my reliance on the saints and the Blessed Virgin Mary. However, I always pray when I don and doff them.

1 celtic cross, 1 miraculous medal and 1 brown scapular here.

As long as you are keeping up with the devotions for each thing, rock out!

Get permission from your confessor to pray the rosary instead of the little office of the BVM. Still allowed, still gain the benefits of the scapular, still a worthy devotion. The priest who enrolled me granted this.

Exactly how much is involved in the brown scapular thing? I mean, do I have to enroll in some kind of confraternity or something? I know with the Total Consecration it is optional.

Exactly how much would I be committing to?

How do you know you are Catholic? When you spend 5 minutes in the morning untangling your Miraculous Medal and your Scapular!😃

Peace,
Linda

This is funny because I have a nightgown with strings at the neck. Every morning I find myself untangling my Miraculous Medal and Crucifix from the srings. It does take me 5 minutes sometimes!!!😊

What is it you’re looking for? Would it make more sense to go more deeply into one type of devotion rather than going shallowly into many?

I suppose it’s my own bias, but it makes more sense to me to try and do “better” at one thing than to dabble in many.

Do you think the two would conflict with each other or compliment each other. They are both Marian devotions.

I just got a scapular, had it blessed, and now I wear it 🤷

That’s kind of what I thought you were supposed to do, but I heard somewhere that you prayed the Little Office of the BVM and joined a confraternity. I don’t know if I would need to do that if I got a brown scapular or if I can just get it blessed and wear it.

I want to do it right!🙂

I love being catholic and all but I am not one for all the medals and what not. I’m fine with crucifixes. I wouldn’t be too worried if I were you. God knows your heart and he just wants you devoted to him.

:rotfl: I was doing that a few months ago organizing stuff. Maybe I’m a bit weary of wearing a scapular, Miraculous Medal, Crucifix, St. Benedict medal, and other things all at once. It does seems a bit much. 🙂 (You know, like those music artists with all of that gold jewellery…) I suppose a medal and crucifix is ok if they’re the only two things.

I don’t actually sleep with any jewelry on…

How can you tell if you are a Catholic man? When you also spend 5 minutes throughout the day untangling your medal and scapular from your chest hair.

Now THAT is offering it up! 🙂
