Yes, the church is made up of several rites, which are furthermore composed of several sects within each rite. These, however, are not separate churches, but different means of worshipping within the SAME church, as all of the rites of the Catholic church are in communion with the Latin Rite under the Bishop of Rome (the pope).

For clarification

The official name of the Church is the Catholic Church. The Church is made up of “rites” and each rite is 100% Catholic

The “Roman” rite of the Catholic Church is ~98% of the Catholic Church. All the other rites make up the remaining ~2% of the total membership. All rites are fully 100% Catholic because they are in communion with the pope of Rome, successor to Peter. Because the Roman rite is so big, compared to the other rites, the Church is often called the Roman Catholic Church. It needs to be said, all rites make up the Catholic Church not just the Roman rite. Each rite is seperate but united with each other as well as united with the pope.

a. We Eastern Catholics are not sects, we are CHURCHES
b. We are Churches not Rites
c. Rites are Liturgical traditions. They are not always interchangable with Church. Two or more Churches can have the same Rite. Sometimes a Rite can be found in only one Church (such as the Latin Rite).
