Is this way of speaking found somewhere?

Has anyone ever said that “the meaning of life is Life Itself”?
This is my personal way of speaking about the meaning of life. God is the ultimate source and Life Itself. Do you know of anyone who talkes like this? Aquinas did inspire me but I’m not sure he used my way of saying it?

The meaning of life is to do the will of God, not the will of life.

Define “meaning”.
Eg. Do you mean the definition of “life”; or do you mean the purpose of “life”; or …?

Also, what life – vegetable, animal, human or all 3?

Aquinas said our true happiness cannot be found in created goods, which includes life itself. Life is good, but it is not the greatest good which we can grasp, or the greatest good of which we are capable.

This is similar to St. Augustine’s saying, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”

Life is good, but it is not the greatest good
I always thought God was Life. He must be death then which is untrue.
I thought we accepted that God wasnt just giving life but the source if life itself. Thus He must be Life. God is Life I’d say.
How can you say that the source of goodness isnt Goodness Itself? The source of Life must be Life Itself, right?

What life? God Himself!
Why would I speak of a created life? I am refering to God which is very easy to know since I just told you in my post.
Why would you misdunderstand me?

I’d say: we were given life in order to love the source of life which is Life Itself. God is Life!

How are purpose and meaning different?

I understand that the problem is that this question is not psychological but only philosophical and theolohical in nature.
Psychology should stay with psychology. This is why the article is weird.

I’ve never heard anyone else say that.

That’s quite deep.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. …
Do you know of anyone who talkes like this?
No. But I see nothing wrong with saying that God is Life. He is the author of life, after all.
Aquinas did inspire me but I’m not sure he used my way of saying it?
Jesus seemed to have used it quite often. No better example to follow.

John 11:25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; …

Perhaps I misunderstood you. When you write Life capitalized like that, you seem to mean God. I have heard it said that God is existence itself. Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and the life. So, to answer the question you posed in the thread title, yes, we do occasionally encounter this way of speaking.

Because “meaning” can be understood as “definition” as well as “purpose”. Philosophy does get into defining life. Thus, what I was essentially asking is, do you mean (no pun intended!)
“the definition of life is Life itself”
or
“the purpose of life is Life itself”
How are purpose and meaning different?
This answers my question - you’re speaking about the purpose of life.
I’d say: we were given life in order to love the source of life which is Life Itself. God is Life!
Yes. Union with God.
Reminds me of one of the first questions in my catechism/s (every year for 8 years) growing up:
Q. “Why did God make me?”
A. God made me to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him in this world and to be happy with Him forever in heaven.

Thanks to that training, I’ve known the meaning/purpose of my life from the time I was a little girl.
And, The Church is still teaching it - CCC 1721
