A very interesting article about Margaret Sanger. It compares how her Wikipedia entry describes her speech at a Ku Klux klan Rally (“a lecture on birth control”) with how her speech to the Klan is describer in her own autobiography. It then highlights some Sanger quotes that she may have found fitting to use at the KKK rally.

The Truth About Margaret Sanger

*Always to me any aroused group was a good group, and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan…As someone came out of the hall I saw through the door dim figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses. I waited another twenty minutes. It was warmer and I did not mind so much. Eventually the lights were switched on, the audience seated itself, and I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak. *

I found the following in the first post on the site quite telling in terms of how reliable the information in it should be considered (my emphasis)

*Although no record of what Margaret Sanger actually said at the Klan Rally exists, the words in bold are actual birth control quotes from Margaret Sanger used on other occassions that reflect how Sanger **may have lectured **on birth control at a Klan Rally. *

So, in a nutshell, no one knows what Margaret Sanger may have said on this occasion, but here’s some things that we think it’s possible that she might have said, taken entirely without any regard for whether the quotes are even related in intent to each other or presented in full context.

Quotes such as are used are also not always presented in their correct context. I would encourage anyone who has an interest to read, if at all possible, the entire at least paragraph, preferably page and entire manuscript from which the quotes are taken in order to form a reasonable judgement.

Both the photos look awfully “cut and paste” to me as well. The lighting is different on Sanger and the relative size changes between her and the men are really amusing. Looks to me like someone was having fun with photoshop, which puts these photos in the same class as the supermarket tabloids of Bat Boy.

Here’s the source for the image of Sanger in the second photo on that website
americanrhetoric.com/speeches/margaretsangerchildrensera.html

I have no idea what Margaret Sanger may have said in such a speech and that is the point. Neither does anyone else. It is all speculation.

The site is actually quite open about the fact that the two “photos” you mention are winners of its "Annual Margaret Sanger at the Klan Rally Art Contest" and even plugs its upcoming:
