My wife and I have been hurt terribely by the decietfulness of my brothers girlfriend and now my brother is very hateful towards my wife. My wife was very comforting to his girlfriend during a tough time and in turn she has lied about my wife and put the blame on her, hence the reason my brother is now resentful towards her, using foul and abusive language towards her. Through everything we will always forgive him and her for how they have hurt us both, and we hold no grudges against them what so ever, for Christ’s love and mercy is much stronger than all hate. My question is although we have forgiven them both, is it wrong to not necessarily want to associate ourselves with his girlfriend or be around her, for reasons of being hurt further. And if my brother continues his disrespectfulness towards my wife and women in general, not associating with him period. It is not that we don’t love him, but I don’t think I should submit my wife to his ill treatment simply because he is family, and I don’t want our 2 daughters to witness his treatment of their mom. Please inform me if my mindset is wrong, and if I am out of line. I believe I recognize the difference between forgiveness and reconcilliation . Please help me know how to handle this difficult situation. I sincerely appreciate your time and answer, God Bless!
