Is thus a mortal sin?

I left Mass straight after Communion. So about 10 minutes early I guess. The carpark is like a demolition derby if you don’t get there first.
In fact I’ve started going to a different parish so I can avoid this particular carpark.

What was the rush ?
Just to beat everyone to the punch - and say “ ah ha “ !

I have an aversion to traffic and getting too close to other cars. And you need eyes in the back of your head , because cars are coming from every direction. it’s stressful.

I think that few would describe this as a mortal sin. But I would find a way to avoid doing this. You never know when you might need the final blessing.

You need the final blessing before taking part in the car park demolition derby.

This question takes me back to my childhood. Our old parish had a very unusual parking lot where everyone parked bumper to bumper. It worked because everyone left Mass at the same time. It did really confuse anyone who was just visiting.

I mean, really, God knows your intent and He isn’t going to forget your personal worries and concerns and anxiety. I would never, ever recommend leaving Mass early, but still, you took the initiative to attend a different parish. So you’ve done your best to avoid a potentially life-threatening event.

Don’t worry about it, in fact I encourage you to not worry about it right now and call a priest and speak to him about it. I guarantee you’ll find good counsel.

That initial video splash screen you posted reminded me of the introduction to Kubrick’s “The Shining” with the road up the mountain and a rendition of Dies irae, dies Illa in the background.

Now you’ve got me thinking about: H. Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique (The Witches’ Sabbath); F. Liszt’s Totentanz; G. Verdi’s Requiem (Dies irae); etc. The combination of tuba and contra-bassoon in the Berlioz sends chills down my spine thinking about it 🙂

I will - look up those songs 😇
Litz - I once read a biography about him.
I’ll just keep it at that.
