After studying Islam, plus all the recent events in Iran, I’ve come to the conclusion that Islam is a political philosophy that is disguised as a religion. Am I wrong or righht?

Wrong.

Aleichem Shalom.

Some people think that Catholicism is a political ideology.

You do not want to imitate them.

Islam, from what the believers have told me, is more a way of life than anything. Islam is unique in that the Koran puts forth morals and rules for everyday life and permeates even the most secular of acts. Mortgages, Politics, Finance, Marriage, Justice, Ethics – Islam permeates the whole culture.

So you would be correct to say that Islam is a political philosophy but only because it is a way of life. Catholicism, too, is a political philosophy because it wants Catholics to vote in a certain way…for the pro-life candidate, for the candidate who supports traditional marriage…whatever it is.

Islam is a religion. It’s sort of like traditional Judaism, in that, just as Judaims has rules for everything, so too dose Islam.

Also, here’s something interesting. You know how some Muslims say “Islam” means peace by rearranging the words? Well, that’s not all Islam means…

ISLAM = Submission

SALIM = Peace

LAMIS = Teacher

ASLIM = Accept

MALIS = Bad

“Salim” isn’t Arabic either. It’s actually a corruption of the Arabic salam. That’s the point I was getting across. It’s illogical to say “Islam” means something when it really dosen’t. It dosen’t mean peace, teacher, bad, or accept. It only means submission.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

It does come from the same root letters as “peace,” though. Just like in Hebrew, you can change vowels to put a word in a different form; “islam” is the intensive form of “salam.”

Allow me to show you the ridiculousness of this claim:

God

With a few rearrangements:

Dog

Using the above logic you’ve shown, where a word means something it dose not with a simple replacement of vowels or rearangement of letters, God is a dog.

Are you saying that Islam is actually an atheist political philosophy?
How are you defining “political philosophy” and “religion?”

It’s a religion. How many political philosophies encourage prayer, fasting, almsgiving, pilgrimage, submission to God ?

As for the politics - how is Catholicism different ? It too has two faces, & is equally confusing. The Pope is a head of state, let’s not forget.

Are you serious?

Arabic is not English. It does not follow the rules of English grammar.

Look up triliterals.

what i meant that i don’t know those two words in arabic language although i’m fluent in arabic , why you don’t want to admit that you faulted !!!

afterall , i have no problem if you accept the meaning of islam to be not more than submission as for i believe that islam means submission but we say that it came from the root “slm” which means peace

anyway the greeting in islam is " al salam alaikom" which means peace be upon you
do you object about the translation of that either 🙂
