Taking usury is an extremely grave sin in Islam.

If we use the definition of usury that was in use at the time [interest paid for the use of money], then we have to ask why charging even a small percent is a grave sin but charging 100% [taking booty] is not.

“For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) good and wholesome which had been lawful for them;- in that they hindered many from Allah’s Way;- That they took usury, though they were forbidden; and that they devoured men’s substance wrongfully;- we have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment.” … [Al-Qur’an, Sûrah al-Nisâ’:160 & 161]

An example of how Jews have made their rabbis as their lords concerns the matter of usury.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) explained: ***“They made those unlawful which Allah declared lawful and lawful which Allah declared unlawful, and you obeyed them. That is taking them as lords.”

The Jews are following and obeying their rabbis who have made the taking of usury lawful from non-Jews and so they have made their rabbis as their lords since Allah has completely prohibited taking usury from any source.

Originally, the usury law applicable toward Gentiles but not toward fellow Jews was because Gentiles themselves charged usury toward Jews, and so it was thought to be only equitable that Jews reciprocate. In later times, when Gentiles no longer charged usury toward Jews, in the interest of fair business practices, it was forbidden by Jewish Law to charge usury toward Gentiles. Which foods were made unlawful for Jews?

God is not the God as described by Islam a man’s relationship with a woman should reflect that of his relationship with God and there is only one God therefore there can only be one wife.

And to those who were Jews We made unlawful every animal having claws, and of oxen and sheep We made unlawful to them the fat of both, except such as was on their backs or the entrails or what was mixed with bones: this was a punishment We gave them on account of their rebellion, and We are surely Truthful. … (Al-Qur’an, Surah 6:146)

As to the question of how Christians have made their monks and priests as their lords, are they not following and obeying their church leaders who have made unlawful food such as the flesh of swine and blood to be lawful and conversely have outlawed things like polygamy which had been allowed at the time of Jesus Christ (pbuh)?
